Hi all. Just added a new copper stripe butterfly to my tank. Now the 2 tangs are ganging up on it! How do I stop this before it gets stressed out... to death?

I had the same problem last week with a yellow finned fairy wrasse. I added her to the tank and as soon as the six line realized she was in the tank the chase was on. If we didnt pull the fairy wrasse out the six line would have killed her. Thank goodness we have another reef tank that has more forgiving fish.

But I have also added fish and at first one or more of the fish would gang up on the new fish but I would turn the lights out, keep and eye on the tank for a while until they were zonked out and the next morning the tank was fine..No more fighting...8)

Move the butterfly out. The tangs were there first and letting it know. The tank is not large enough for them to share.

yellow tangs should have a minimum of 100 gallons per tang. what size tank do you have? caution must be used when tangs and butterflies habitat the same area.

Might want to try and move or reconfigure some rocks around, I read it sometimes works.
