It took mine 4 months or so before it became "courageous" enough to come out and stay out. It would come out normally a few times a day, but if another fish got within a foot of him, gone into his hole. Once I got my Blue Spot, who he took over the rock the Firefish was hiding in, he moved to the side, and seems to be more adventurous now. Give it time, and make sure it gets food...spot feed areas if you have to and see if it comes out.

Everyone's comment are encouraging. I'll give an update in a couple days, or when it comes out of hiding.

Yes sir. As soon as it saw me, it disappeared again. It was encouraging to know that it was just hiding and is in very good health.

Make sure you turn off the flash when you decide to take a picture. I sent my wrasse back into hiding for another 12 hours because I forgot to turn off the flash and it scared him..

With my firefish, I found they are more secure in numbers. I have 5 that are out all the time darting around. Ironically, in the wild, they will spend their entire life and never get more than a few inches away from their home. In my tank, they stay close to their rock and will wander about 10 inches away from it but never any farther.
As you add fish and corals to your tank, you will see more of him. A tank with other critters seems to give mine more confidence. My puffer was the same way...he hid for months and had very little confidence. I've slowly been adding more coral and fish, he is out all the time now.

I honestly don't thnk your Clowns or Blenny are bothering him. If they are causing the Firefish stress it is only because they moves so fast. Myself, I believe that Firefish are more of a group fish and feel more secure with a group of their own kind around. I have 2 Dwarf Angels, a small Valentine puffer, a yellow tang, a blue tang, a sandsifting Goby, a 6 Line Wrasse, a Cleaner Shrimp, 5 Firefish, a Hawkfish, 2 Clowns, and a Algae Eating Blenny in my 95 gallon and all live in harmony ( I know too many fish but they all seem to be very happy and they are all being moved to my 250 gallon tank before Christmas). I have even seen my cleaner shrimp try to grab the Firefish trying to clean them....they hate that and will run away...but never hide from him.

That's alot of fish in that tank.

On another note, I saw my firefish again. Until he saw me. Hid again. Just a matter of time and it'll feel comfortable with it's tank mates.
