Today we introduced a Molly Miller/Algae Blenny to our tank. At first, we thought he might have trouble getting along with our goby because I remember hearing something somewhere that gobies and blennies sometimes don't get along. Well, the culprit is actually our Six Line Wrasse.

The 6 line has been chasing and "attacking" the little blenny off and on for three hours now. Basically, if the blenny goes anywhere near our aquascape island area thing, he gets chased. He's stuck sitting in the corner of our tank.

How long should I let this go on? I feel the wrasse has the little guy pinned. Advice?

Six lines are know to be bullies and it is my advice to you to rid yourself of him and be done with it. Most people i knwo to include myself had had issues with them and they are hard to catch.

+1 on hard to catch. I really like them though and usually try to tolerate them, but sometimes it can be too much... GL catching him though. At this point it would probably be easier to take the blennie back if you're considering that.

You can try to move some of your aquascaping around to lessen its comfort level.

pull the sixline and give him a timeout in QT. let the blennie get comfortable and change the aquascape a bit. then when its comfy try the sixline again . might work

Well today seems better. The Blenny isn't pinned in the top corner, he's frolicking and eating at things on the sand on the right side now. I haven't seen the 6 line chase the little guy yet, but he does swim by and stare at him with his fins raised. I'll just see how things are tomorrow and I'll go from there.

We will be getting a Coral Beauty as our final fish in the next month, so if they can cooporate with each other I'm hoping the CB will put the 6line "in his place". The 6 line is king of the rocks, for now. But a new king is hopefully going to come in.

EDIT: ok he's still getting chased. The female clown is joining in as well. With a little slow chase and one fin nip so far. That's normal though, right? We're buying a Q tank and hopefully my youth and the wrasse's desire to pig out will allow me to catch him at feeding time.

It usually takes a few days to allow each fish to get used to a new addition. When adding a new fish, they may get chased, but as long as no physical abuse is going on, you should be ok. It is also best to add a new fish at night, or with only actinics on, so that they can get used to the new tank. After a few days, it should get better. If not, you then may want to try more drastic things. I have a sixline and have not had any real problems with him. I don't believe they are that aggressive.

For six months I watched my sixline attack my maroon clown and royal gramma until he nearly killed the clown (both fish equal to or smaller than the sixline). I had no choice but to catch him and move him to my other tank with a clarkii and blue hippo which are bigger, he is no longer a bully to the bigger fish. The maroon and the royal gramma have now started to heal and grow.

I caught him with the 20oz bottle trick with some brine shrimp.

I had a six line and the only thing it would bully were some nassarius snails...he would attack the sand where they were burried, i thought it was kinda funny because he didn't exactly know where they were...I also have a clown that he was with, they seemed ok with each other though...they even swam together sometimes!!

My sixline was friend with the foxface (who was bigger, go figure) and they would swim around together, actually the foxface would follow him. His bullying got to the point that the foxface was starting to also bully (seemed kind of a social behavior) and when I pulled the sixline out, the foxface became nice again. It was kind of nuts.
