Dotty backs are pretty aggressive so I wouldn't consider any gobies or ground dwellers. I'm a huge fan of dwarf angels, my favorite being the flame angel. Coral beauty angels look great too and are very hardy. Most tangs will get to big but I also don't follow the rules to strictly. I like getting tangs when there small and watch them grow. When they become to big for my tanks I relocate them. To each his own though. If you find a fish you like make sure you do a little research first, don't impulse buy like me;) I had a dotty back but it was way to aggressive so he had to go. Good luck.

I'd say you're done stocking that tank. FWIW, I only keep one fish in my 14 gallon

Ok so the last fish buy was impulsive but could the reason the dottyback and orange goby get along because the were introduced at the same time?

It could be, plus fish have different personalities. I have 2 maroon clowns that share the same anemone so anything is possible. I added my dottyback 5 months after my yellow watchman and he almost got killed by the dottyback. Just keep an eye on him. As far as another fish I'd look into a dwarf angel. 36 gallons is way different than 14 gallons. My 36 bowfront is considered overstocked by some but I never have nutrient issues. Its your tank man, enjoy it.
