I have a 24g tank (not sure of the brand) with 1X150w metal halide light. And I really want a new fish or coral. I have 2 black sea horses and a spotted mandrin(and numerous crabs and snails). I also have bubble coral, galaxia coral, polyps, mushrooms, ans a peice of green youngi.
    :-/

Diamond gobies get relatively large when full grown, ~ 5" and generally like lots of sandbed to sift. I wouldn't put one in a 24g tank.
I would question your choice in a mandarin as well since they generally do better in larger tanks, but I'll assume you have some sort of a system for making sure it's well fed.
I would probably look more at coral rather than fish unless you look maybe at a small goby or something.
