    Update on new fish!

Well ich has been kicking our butts!! So I am running kick ich and saved my last hippo tang and everyone looks so much better now just from the first dose.I still have to continue running it for 3 weeks.I have used kick ich successfully before and should have started it the day I put in all these new fish.Hey sometimes UV sterilization just isnt enough for something that multiplies faster than bunnies. Also has to pass through the sterilizer to get nuked!!So I turned off the skimmer removed all my media and turned off the UV and bumped the chiller up 2 degrees and socked it to the parasites!!
Anyway I feel alot less stressed. And my fish are all looking better and eating voraciously.

seems like your got alot of ich problems last few months? maybe adding to many fishes at once caused the extra stress? I hope you get rid of that ich this time around.. its a pita thats for sure.

Ich won't ever be completely eliminated by a UV sterilizer, even if there's only one single cyst in the tank.

When the cyst falls off the fish, it sits wherever it landed for a little while, then "pops" and lets out hundreds of the free-swimming stage of the parasite, all at once. All of them will not pass through a UV unit; there's too many to begin with, and they're relatively strong swimmers for a tiny protozoan organism. They can likely swim against the current going through a UV, since UV is a very slow flow filter. If it's fast enough to pull along the ich, it's too fast to kill the ich anyway.
