I received a new Monti frag today but it has about 5-6 anemone looking items around the base. I do not want to introduce into the tank until I get rid of them. Would a fresh water dip for 15-30 seconds take care of them or should I treat with Aiptasia X before placing in tank?

    Thanks!

I would do both, better yet get a good coral dip to help remove any unwanted hitch hikers like flatworms!

A fresh water dip will kill the monti also.

I wouldn't do anything now. It's not like they infect your water. It's almost a sure shot that you will get them eventually anyways.

I would first get an id, not just guess what they are or may be. Then I agree, I wouldn't want to introduce it to my tank. You may be able to treat them with bleach by dipping a qtip in bleach or a bleach and water solution then apply to the spot.

Should always look at it as prevention is better then a cure with your tank. Scrap them off the rock with a razor or knife then rub some kalk paste on them
Or just break it off the rock and ditch the rock & keep the frag that would be the safest bet.

Thanks for all the replies, I took several pictures but it is almost impossible to see anything through the plastic bag. I did however get very lucky 5-6 of the anemones types dislodged from rock and stuck on the side of the bag. Leaving only one on the rock the monti was on. The monti is now in the tank and the one remaining has been treated with Aiptasia X. Thanks again for all the replies!
