    I see you joined up:smoke:

As I have said 5 times already - Go with a refugium (sump) and call it a day.

My guess is 25 -40 gallons for that tank. Metal Halides (MH) are the lights you will need if you are going to get the Clam or any hard corals. It is cheaper to do it right the first time.

Luna - As usual, Excellent post.

i run that exact tank for my larger setup, you guys just never see it :)

    I'm running the 6 bulb tek-lite T5HO with a simple 20g sump tank below and a coralife skimmer for a 125g tank

total for all that stuff was about 700 bucks but very well worth it, very low maintenance, I empty the skimmer once a week and change the bulbs once a year

Get enough light to put clams on the sand if I wanted too

Well ALW and I are making a 20gal refugium for my tank. We took a bunch of pics during the build process and will post up a thread.

Just wish I would of thought about getting marine safe silicone. Realized that:angry: at about 10:30 p.m.

Oh well, hope to have my tank at least running tomorrow.

Welcome aboard! I'm a noob with a 75 gallon tank. The people here are great! What dimensions are your tank? I've been told T5's are good for my tank for lighting. My tank is 48 x 18 x 20, and I've been told time and time again, this is a good lighting system for my tank. Sorry, I don't know anything about retrofitting lighting. And I'm just too new to comment on filtration systems. Good luck, let's have some photos!!!!!
