Yay another Ohioan! Welcome to 3reef Joe! You've chosen a great place to share your adventure. :)

Your plans sound great, very well thought out. I can't wait to see the build. I think your powerheads will work well, though do consider switching one or both of them to the 750s, and then just have them turn on back/forth on the controller.

I have 3 Koralia 425s in my 29g reef. I can attest that they will not reach all the way across the tank (lengthwise) for flow. I started with two, putting one on each end of the tank. That didn't work, so I added the third one and put them all on the back wall, pointing at the front glass, at different hights. Much better. :D

I will be going to college this fall and hope to set up a tank there, but I haven't decided how big or whether it will be FW/SW.

Very good plan. I'd also say 2 750's eould be right.

I just want to make sure, your in an apartment in college right? Or does the school make you live in the dorms the first semester or two?(talking to you seano, and you Joe).

If your in the dorms, a fish tank is not easy, especially a reef. During spring break, alot of the time the school is closed and people are actually forced off campus. Even if you did get back into your dorm, alot of times the power is off too! This means that you'd have to move your tank back home, then to school again in 1-2 weeks.

Also, You have summer to think about..the same rule applies! I hope you guys have apartments!

Im just wondering how you both will set them up. I plan on a tank in college too

Everyone is talking about flow,. But I would to sugest looking into LED's over metal halides for two reasons. 1 - it will keep your tank cooler temp wise and 2 - it will save you a lot of money on power and bulb replacements. Welcome to 3reef as well. Glad to see you here.
