lol bro, I know, sorry to be that way, but trust me, skimping in this hobby generally only leads to a box full of crap that you no longer need and can't sell, patience is you best asset. Just go slow and save for the right equipment, it is worth it, IMO. Do yourself a favor and don't think about what you have spent, only budget what you need for the future, if you set the tank up right to start, it'll save you money in the long run, or you can be like me and have boxes fo crap that no one wants and I can't sell, lol

But I do have a CPR hob fuge that you may seriously want to consider if you don't go the sump/fuge route, but I'd highly advise doing that instead, but let me know if interested once you get running!

ALL Corals! I have 1 on half my tank, and a rapidled.com set up on the other half of a 90 and theres nothing it won't grow! I have 3 clams under it. Granted some SPS may need to be higher up with it, but prob not in a 55! Heck 1 of them would be fine for you to start with! Then add the other in a month or so. You won't be adding any coral for at least 2 months anyways.

Maybe T5 is nice, but remember you need to prob replace all the bulbs in that at $20 each and then do that every year

nah bro, wait and research, although I'm pretty sure thats above and beyond the best bang for the buck right now, but yeah, 1 will light your tank fine for 6 months or so till ya start filling it with coral, and even then it may be enough, heres my thread on them

i was kinda joking in my response. but i have been reading and LED def seems the way to go. They do look pretty awesome. I'll do the one and when I have a little more money I'll get the other. About a year and half one of them is paid for as apposed to bulbs

some of the videos I'm looking at the LEDs seem to make the tank look more blue. Is this normal?
