well...it took me forever....but its up and cycling.

This is where it stands after about 3 and a half weeks. I apologize in advance for the craptastic cell phone pics. Wife has the good camera. :)

things are coming along great! had the water tested today and was told that everything looked ok, except for the nitrates? They were just a little high. So I'm gonna wait a couple more weeks before putting any livestock in there.

BUT...I've got a couple aptasia poppin up and the newest chunk of rock came with a bunch of little brittle stars! So, things can't be that bad.

Still to come: Next week, I plan on building my own canopy for it. After that, I'm going to make my own LED fixture to light this sucker up!

    Thanks for reading along!

    Looking real good.
Sounds like you're almost done cycling.
But, if I were you, I would ask the LFS to give me the exact readings on your water tests just to make sure. Or you can even pick up a test kit at the LFS, just in case;)

Welcome to 3reef! My wife and I also just bought a new house our first house! Nothing like a reef tank to make a new home comfortable! I just started reef keeping as well and boy is it a money pit! I have already put several thousand into mine and I have only had it running for a couple of months!
