I can't take credit for this one as my 12 year old daughter came up with the idea, while taking a break from being a fixture in front of the tv!
I don't know if you guys know, but I had to shut down my Caribbena reef tank biotope!!! After receiving my last electric bill being over $225.00>that preminition is a thing of the past UNFORTUNATELY!
My daughter suggested using the 75 gallon tank as a huge refugium!!! I thought of using it as a sump, however it is to big to fit under my main 125 gallon tank!!
I can use the 75gallon tank as a huge refugium though using two powerheads to bring water into the refugium and back into the tank!!! With this I can add more water volume and surface area and have more room for Urchins, macroalgae small fish and inverts and coral much in the same way as my main tank!
I just have to move the tank and get some flexible pvc tubing as i already have the powerheads! Since the tank is not drilled, the two powerheads will be essential in the circulation of the water out of and back into the main tank!!!
I am excited about this and hope to have some pictures soon as I get it set-up. WOW!! What an upgrade in terms of water volume and surface area and think of the flexibility and sky is the limit as to waht I can place into my tank and not have to worry about compatibility issues etc.8)
    Stay tuned!!!!

I would either keep the powerheads really high or only have one powerhead and an overflow on the higher tank. I did this for a few days with two ten gallon tanks and one of the pumps failed and it drained the one tank almost completely, you probably already thought of this though.
I like the idea of 'display refugiums' I don't know if that kills the purpose though.
