Very nice. It does look as if you will be confined to keeping things in the middle with your light setup but I like the look of it.8)

Yeah I am going to take the lenses off of the LED's there isn't enough light on the sides with them. The rock on the back wall is man made. There is a shop here in Phx that does it, all that I know is that he uses calcium carbonate in it and I don't know what else. He has a patent on it. The LED set up I will take pics of in a bit when I pull the lenses off. I used a heatsink from nanotuners. The diodes are 18 cree XR-E royal blue and 12 XR-E cool white. 2 seperate drivers. And the moon lights are the ones that came with the tank, I just took them out of the plastic cases and glued them to the HS.

Thanks. It is one piece, the guy that does it somehow forms it while it is wet on the back walls.

Nice! I would try to take some of the lenses off, but not all. The lenses will focus the light, creating the "spotting" you see, but they also are better for the corals(as long as the light is not too intense). I would try removing the lenses from the outside LEDs only. See how that looks.

I like the look. I would see if you can move the positions of the LED's before removing the optics.

Thanks all!!! The pics don't do the light justice. At the back of the tank, it isn't as dark as the pics show, just some shadowing from the powerheads. Removing some lenses helped alot. This has been a fun build for my new son's room. The last one is in my little girl's room and she loves it. I think it will be a good teaching tool for them as they grow up. Let me know your favorite SPS for suggestions and anything you think would be cool for this new tank. Thanks again. Dave

Much better light distribution now. I am primarily a soft coral guy but do keep some LPS. For movement, a Torch and Frog Spawn are good choices. I don't know your expertise so I will advise waiting at least 4-6 mos. before adding those type of coral.

Thanks! My other tank has been set up for 2 years. I have alot of lps in there for a 24gal, Frogspawn(10 heads), 4 acan colonies, favia, 2 lobo colonies, and a wellso. As for softies I have zoas, gha and a goniopora. Add the crocea and fish and that's alot. This tank will be more geared toward sps. I don't think I am going to put a torch in there just because I don't want it to sting any acros. I do like them though.

Well I fired up the skimmer the other day and I am still having troubble with it filling up in about an hour. Any help would be great. It is turned all of the way down. Tested the water today also and it is as follows, nitrate 10ppm, amonia 0ppm, nitrite 0ppm, ph 8.0, calcium 450. Ready for a cuc. I'll probably give it a few more weeks before I add any coral or fish, unless I don't, haha. I did add some tiny blue leg hermits and some macro last weekend.
