I was checking around the Chinese Wholesale site about Aquarium LED fixtures and saw 1 of the fixture got some interesting functions. So I send a email to ask them if I can buy a sample unit and compare it with my current zetlight fixture and see how it looks.

The quote I got is as following:
72W with bridgelux 3w chip (same as my Zetlight pro2500) the cost would be around 320ish after shipping and all the transaction fee I pay for the bank
if I want 72w with CREE-XPE chip, the cost would be about $370ish
I ordered the bridgelux one since my zetlight is bridgelux, so that would be much better to compare the two.
As for PAR reading, the bridgelux chip gives about 260 at 24 inches and 160 at 42 inches according to their facotry testing.

The feature it get me interested is the controller. It can mimic sunrise sunset and also Lunar cycle. I think the Lunar cycle might be helpful to promo mating for certain fish in this case. You can even use a SD card (comes with the light according to the invoice i got) to preset a 28 days cycle of your light setting.

It also comes with a remote to control light intensity as well.

My main conern of the light is that according to their info, the light doesn't have a fan. I understand it is gonna be very quite however wihtout fan, overheat might be a issue to the light and that is another reason why i don't want to dump more money to get the more expensive CREE version. I will make a payment nxt week and hopefuly I can get the light the week after.

I will post some pictures when I got the light set up.

Me too! I love my LEDs I have crees and they are awesome. You may want to think about going that route in the future. Everyone i've talked to has said to get the 3 watt crees. I did the DIY LED kit and all you need for the fans is a computer fan(a fan that is used in a computer)

    Good Luck!

I have tried DIY and got my parts from Rapid LED like everyone else. However, I found that the cost is not a huge saving. consider getting yourself all the LED chips and a heat sink plus dimmer and extra timer, all that comes to almost the same or a bit more than buying a Made-in-China brand LED. The differences is DIY can give you satisfaction of do it urself but it might not look as clean as a pre-made LED fixture. I can understand if you are very handy and enjoy doing everything urself, but not everyone can do it well. I went to school for electrician, DIY LED isn't the problem. My problem is after I got evrything done,I 1) don't have the time to make a proper casing or canopy for it 2) not that handy of making those anyways.

As of the CREE vs bridgelux, I understand bridgelux is about 80% efficient of CREEs but cost about 40% less. In this case , I rather go with the cheaper chip since my tank isn't that tall anyways. ppl argue that it cost more on electri bill overall when I need to run a 120w brigelux to match a80w to 100w CREE's output. However, when 90% of the ppl are still using MH, I think i am fine with the little bit higher electric bill than the CREE chip but save myself a bit at initial cost.

Its a whole sale site. I am not sure if i allow to post it on forum. All you need just google "Chinese aquarium LED". However, most of them are require 10 units+ per purchase. The only reason they ship one to me for sample is because I gave them my online store website and told them I currrently cary Zetlight and interesting try out their light.

um..I can't post my link here and I currently don't have it yet, I will post the picture of it when I get it so we can all talk about the light itself. As far as for selling it, I fully respect Matt and the forum rules. I will not post my site here as I am not a sponsor. Maybe later when I finally decide to carry them, I can PM you my site.

The only reason I psoted here is cuz I found the way how they can use a SD car to pre-program the setting is kind o fresh idea. I understand Vertex or some other brand name LED used to have wireless conenction to computer to program your setting, but I think that kinda setting cost ppl a leg and a arm to even thinking about getting them.

just got a reply form the company, they said they can ship it out right away and will arrive in 3 days. But the sales rep told me that they are bringing out a new version of the fixture and instead of 24x3w for the 24" fixture, it would be 38x3w and the price could be either be cheaper or the same. The only thing is I have to wait till oct 24 before they can ship the light out. I end up choose to wait sinceI can get a bit more watt out of the same cost or lower.
