new led lighting question

    They are really to enhance the aesthetic effect of the aquarium
    so its up to you IMO

    People with T5/T8 or PC lighting dont get the shimmer effect that people with MH achieve ( focused light being interupted by ripples on water surface)

    these compensate for that, in addition to giving you the option of being able to tailor the colouration of your set up to your own tastes

    you could use them as moonlighting I believe and just have them on at night
    or you could run them during the day to give spots of illumination to corals etc and also create that shimmer effect many people enjoy

    the 403nm is a spectrum human eye doesn't get easily but the corals actually do. You should not have those lights on all the time. You can use them an hour before and after your regular photoperiod with your main lighting. Same goes to actinics from stunner. I think they're a little too much to be used as moonlights. More like a supplement or to add shimmer to a fluorescent fixture.
