about 2 weeks ago a new fish store opened about 10 miles away from my house and i have already been in there twice. the owner really knows what he is talking about and hand picks the fish he sells, but i was wondering how long i should wait before i buy clowns or coral from him?

I agree, any livestock any store would get comes from the same place, so a new store wouldn't really differ from an established store

As not very far away, and owner is seems knowledgeable, it is very important to establish a good relationship with him right away.

A good LFS will usually glad to help you out with tank, and not sell you stuff you do not need or should have in tank.

    Important questions to ask:

    What is LFS return policy?

Will they "hold" fish for you for few days so you can be certain is healthy and eating?

Do they use Cu in fish display tanks? (not a bad thing at all)

A good LFS nearby is a great asset. Support him as best you can to help him stay in business. 8)

Try buying something that no way in he-- would go in your tank, or suitable for your tank, and see if he's willin to sell it to you... One lfs I go to said,"This would be perfect for your tank." I said, "Just because its a Dwarf lion fish, doesn't mean it would work in a 5.5 gal tank.".. LOL....>>>>>>>> on the other hand, My buddy who owns a ebay store, who used to have a lfs, wouldn't sell me a fish or coral that wouldn't be right for my tank.. And that's before we even became friends....
