I have an innovative marine nuvo 38 tank and I'm in need of a new light. The Skkye 30w led is not cutting it for me anymore. I'm looking at maxpect razor led. Is the 120watt going to be overkill? I have mostly soft corals but am looking to diversify.

I'm no expert on lights by any means but I would say that light would suffice as far as the 120w go and is probably more than enough. Looks like the light should have enough coverage for that tank and the 90 degree optics should be enough. I would just make sure to give it at least 12" above the tank and but that's just me.

Thanks for the help. I'm relatively new to the hobby and it seems the skkye light just doesn't have the customization or options that the maxspect does.

Yeah the maxspect razr is a good light from what I hear but as I said it would suffice and I said that cause I figured it would be more than enough light which would require it to be dialed down and mounted high enough. I haven't looked at the dimensions of your tank but have you looked at reefbreeders or reefradiance lights? I hear nothing but good things about both companies. Depending on the light there is plenty of light and control with both brands. With both brands you can choose what kind of optics you want on the lights as well.
