I'm kind of wishing I had waited a little bit and got LEDs. Right now I have a 48" 250w x 2 with 4 t5. It looks like a spaceship outside my house at night. I'm kinda wishing I bought 2 of the boost led 135w light units. Does anyone know if the par rating on the boost led at 24" depth is enough or clams?

From what I have read it might be good enough at 48". So yeah.

The spaceship look is unavoidable, even the LED's will give that effect at night.
You will need 2 of the BoostLED fixtures to cover your tank but they should allow you to keep whatever you like, I'm debating putting a pair over my 90 myself.

Maybe my current fixture will be going up for sale soon... I'm just concerned that the 121 par at 24" won't be enough for clams on the sand bed.
I was thinking that since the led is so much more directional light that it would take away some of the spaceship look.
The way I see it, within 6 months, the cost of the LEDs will pay for themselves over the 600w (only using 2:4 t5) fixture I'm using now.

I converted a 50g (24" depth) a while back, did a DIY from Rapid LED... I will never look back! Adjustable color with dimming on the Blue & White LED's. The tank has clams, SPS, LPS and a other goodies... Coral growth has been fantastic. I think LED's are here to stay!

About to do the same on my 90g.

As far as the "Space Ship" effect, Live with it ;D

You should see my house, I am actually supprised that the DEA has not raided my house!
