So I am wondering if 6-54w T5 bulbs would be to much for my 55 gal? I was think of doing the Gman bulbs 2-atinic 2-11k and 2-6700 (but the 6.7k would only run for 2 hours a day, if that). In the long run the tank is going to be sps, some open brains (the LPS I am not worried about) and a clam or two. Is 6 bulbs going to be over kill? plus they may need some "modification" to fit into my canopy...

If that's all you want, then IMO 6 bulbs is overkill, I think 4-5 with good reflectors would be great. I have a tek 6x54w on my 55 and my sps and clam are doing well. My lps are all near the bottom and are doing pretty well too.

Well I was going with Tek II, problem is that they come in 2 bulbs sets so its either 4 or 6. You are using 6 on your 55, and that not overkill, cause it seems like you have what I want. What is you light bulb combos?

I have from front to back
    ATI Blue+
    UVL Actinic White (12k)
    UVL Aqua Sun (10k)
    UVL Super Actinic
    Gman Aquablue (11k)
    UVL Super Actinc

Beaware that you can use that fixture obviously, but you should take the time to properly acclimate your corals to the new light or they will bleach. I've had several favia bleach b/c I didn't do that.

Are you just doing a two light cycle? I was thinking (and please tell me what you think) in order from front to back (I was going to doing all Gman bulbs)
    Actinic
    11k
    6.7k
    actinic
    11k
    6.7k
I would at have the actincs come on first (10 hrs) then the 11k (7-8 hrs) and 6.7 in the middle of the day ( tops 2 hours)

Ohh there is no worries to bleaching, its a new tank so I don't have anything in it.

You should be fine as you are planning. You can increase the 6700K when you add SPS and clams.

I was just worried about having to much light. If I can save $$$ and time going with 4 bulbs and still being able to keep SPS and clams then I would do that. But I also dont want to be under lighted for the SPS those are what I really want!

If I had to bend the reflectors to fit 6 into the canpoy, would I be losing some of the reflection. I know I would change the direction of where the light goes. In that case should I just do 4 bulbs? and should I change from using Tek to IceCaps?

Icecaps are pretty good reflectors. Also, I wouldn't do the 6700k bulbs, you mine as well go with 10 or 12k bulbs b/c you basically get the same PAR rating and get better color. Your tank won't be as yellow.
