Hey Beamerhack - I do not know, but have followed a few T5 threads recently

I do know many prefer the TEK brand - that also has a 6 x 54 watt option

a quote from Dr Fragenstine on another T5 below (Hope you dont mind Doc?)

No offense Current USA lovers out there but there fixtures are pretty "entry" level. Even the PRO with its "SLRs" are a poor choice for someone that says they are looking to buy a "quality" fixture. For all of you that tout the powers of the SLRs on the Pro....have you seen what REAL SLRs look like? The Pros don't even cover the WHOLE bulb.... On any quality SLR the reflector will cover the whole bulb not run halfway through the bulb.
Im not trying to bash Current or the people that have these fixtures but they are entry level at that....
No one mentioned any of the Aquactinics models... I would rank them over Tek...
The Solar Flare is a 6 bulb fixture that has IceCap ballast(overdriven to roughly 80watts)
it HAS moonlights, fans and a great warranty.
The Constellation has 7 bulbs which is in my eyes more than enough light to light a 18" wide tank!!
There more higher end lights out there they just aren't that popluar-mostly do to price..Sfiligoi makes some great lights that they will customize for you. Giesemann also has a new fixture on the market as well.

Rick, do you REALLY think you need 8 bulbs?

    Happy lighting!

Well, looks like Steve took the words right out of my mouth!!!

I would buy something better personally, BUT I have so many "junk" lights in storage I have learned from my own mistakes and early experience of people saying PC or whatever is the BEST out there!
If you are planning on staying in the hobby, buy the best you can afford, or if money is no object then the best there is! ;-)
The Pro does have enough light to keep anemones, DEPENDING on the tank height AND what TYPE anemone you want.... Saddle or carpet, maybe not... Well they would survive but not THRIVE. BUT those anemones are really only for experienced keepers...

Back on track, get a Tek, they are cheap, good and American made.. They have a warranty and soon they will have fans, I just don't know HOW soon.
Go for ATI or Giesemann bulbs for the most bang for your buck.
If you get the Current, I would highly recommend swapping the bulbs out for a better bulb.

    Good luck and happy lighting!
