    Hi all.
Starting on my new 300 gallon tank. The dimensions are 72 x 36 x 28 deep. Im wondering if I'm going to need 2 rows of fixtures. Maybe MH in the front and t5s in the back. Will 4 x 250watt mh be enough? Any thoughts appreciated.- Paul

WOW, 300 GALLONS. Depends on what type of corals are in the tank. 4-400 halides are good enough for all corals in my opinion. Adding t-5s would be a bonus. I have 2-250s on my 150 and all my corals are perfect. You would need a 1/2 hp chiller.

i would put MH in the middle, as this would be where most of your corals will be anyways. then put T5 on either side of them..

Pictures coming this week, I promise. Here's my current plan. Criticize if appropriate. The canopy has 2 braces running the width of the tank. The front supports the hinges. That leaves two areas, each about 13.5"wide and 6 feet long. The front row will be (from left) 250w, 400w, 250 w metal halides. The back row will be the same. Sunup and sundown will be the back 2 250w lights. the front 250s will come on 1 hr later, the 400s will join the for mid day lighting. Should I get cooler lamps for the early am lights? Thanks for advice in advance.- Paul
