Those would provide blue light, but it will be pretty dim most likely because they are only 0.5W LED's. they would be good moonlights on a 90 gallon, but won't get the blue color in your example picture. The blue in the picture is being made by higher powered LED bulbs. A string of LED's similar to the one vizzle posted, but using 1 or 3W LED's and probably less total bulbs would be a good option. 1W LED's would get good dim blue all the way to the bottom and 3W would do that and be as bright as your example picture.

Idk...one of those should produce a lot of blue (maybe not like that photo) especially when the halide is off :-/

Or you could get one of these from Innovative Marine that will certainly give a tank... This would give off plenty of Blue Innovative Marine Skkye Light Single Strip LED Fixture (you'll have to adjust for size and color with this light as well)

Or I guess you could just set up your own at BuildmyLED

Op, I would look into T5 actinics. If your planning on corals your gonna need more than just a blue look. You need an actinic spectrum of 420-460 for the corals. A good led can provide that but is a little pricey. Remember, just because it looks blue doesn't mean its a correct spectrum. T5 bulbs also let you customize as well, I love mine. IMO the 14k MH bulb doesn't give off enough of that low blue actinic spectrum, perfect for your daylight though.

Well I kinda went a different route. I had 2 18” fixtures that fit t5 bubls and I had just the right space in my tank’s canopy to install both fixtures. I ordered 2 Actinic bulbs for a really low price on ebay to come next week. I will have them on a timer to come on right after Mh shut off at 7pm.

I'd argue that halides provide the best growth spectrum (granted, not all are equal) of anything currently available to reefers. They just get too hot and too expensive for most people to use/car to use. A 10,000k bulb would be better for coral growth, but a 14,000K should do almost equally as well, but provide a little bluer look. Actinic lighting is more so for your eye than anything else.

I'm about to do the something in my canopy. Since I can't keep my halides on for 12 hours a day like I did my t-5s or my LEDs (7-8 max), I'm looking to add an actinic for viewing before and after the halides come on/go off.
