Just added a six-line, a cleaner shrimp, and 3 astrea snails today! ;D Only problem is that the six-line basically sunk (still alive mind you) and then disappeared into the rock work and I haven't seen him since. Stage fright hopefully? The cleaner shrimp made himself right at home but when I left and came back after the tank lights were off he is no where to be found. Sleeping in the rock work hopefully? As for the 3 astrea snails. I set them all close to each other on the rock work and then left and came back and it doesn't look like they've moved at all. One of them was flipped over and I righted him and noticed that it moved when my hand got close so I know they're not dead....hopefully. Any ideas, comments or advice would be appreciated. (probably should have put this in the Newbie thread.)

per reefcleans.org acclimation guide some snails can go into shock for up to 3 days - give them a little time and check in again

Woke up this morning to find the six line dead on the sand bed. :( The cleaner shrimp is still shy as hell but alive and as far as I can tell the snails aren't moving a lot but they are alive as well. Poor six-line.......

How did you acclimate the critters?

I drip acclimated the six-line and I just added a little bit of tank water to the shrimp and snails bags about every 5 minutes.

I have a cleaner shrimp I see once every month or so. It got to the point where I was positive he was dead so I bought another one only to see the old cleaner a few hours after adding the new guy to the tank.

I called the LFS about 10 minutes ago and talked to the guy that sold me the six-line yesterday. He has absolutely no idea what would have killed the six-line so quick. He is going to work with me though when I go back tommorrow. A little nervous about trying another six-line but I really like their colors... Any ideas on maybe a different fish?

IME, the temp being correct is more important than the other params for adding fish...

I never drip acclimate any more bc (at least for me) I can not drip and float at same time... so the drip bucket water gets nice and cold... not good.

(the warm water dripping out is not nearly warm enough to keep the bucket water warm)

Maybe that information helps, maybe not. Sorry about the 6-line.

(for shrimp, IME, matching the temp and SG have been critical to introduction).

eh... it was not because of the species... it was either something you did (or did not do) in the acclimation or (and much more probable) it was the particular fish...

if you want a 6-line, try one again.
