As some of you may have read in my asap thread my coral beauty just passed with no signs of distress other than some bloating and all other fish in the tank seem to be doing fine etc params were right on where the shoot have been other than my nitrates being a little high(15) which would not be the cause of death on a fish more than likely. So I was looking for a new fish that would be suitable eye catcher...I'm not sure if I'm going to go with another coral beauty so I would like to hear some suggestions. The tank is a 55 standard with plenty of LR a fuge etc with a female maldives lyretail anthias, 2 juvenile percula clowns, 2 chromis, 2 damsels, and an orange spotted prawn goby also misc inverts and corals....the 2 chromis and the domino damsel stay in the upper 3rd of the tank for the most part, the 3 stripe damsel hangs out in the rock work poking in and out, the clowns hang out on the lower half of the tank to mid section on one side of the tank for the most part, the orange spotted prawn goby, under the rockwork and in rock caves, and the anthias mostly hangs out middle column of the water.

I figure to get something that is mid to upper column and free swimming....none of my other fish show any agression except the 3 strip when another fish goes in his hole where he sleeps...also fish must be reef safe or atleast reef safe with caution so I'd like to hear some ideas

    Sorry for your loss.

FWIW, sometimes fish just die. We know almost nothing about internal diseases or disorders that fish can develop, probably because they're nearly impossible to diagnose and treat, so there's no real point in doing any extensive research.

Personally, I'd try another CB, or at least another dwarf angel. IMOPE, they are reef-safe if they're kept well-fed with a varied diet.

I just purchased a hawaiian flame wrasse and am very pleased. It is a very beautiful fish and has been swimming around the tank since I brought it home. I am not sure how it would fit in with all of your other tankmates but ours is getting along well with our purple firefish and yellow watchman goby.

The coral beauty is my favorite fish for a tank this size, so I'm going to say get another one. Koran angel or a copper band butterfly is nice if you have the right corals.
