I purchased the new MJ1200 from Marineland and wow, what a piece of crap. I was using it for the new TLF reactors I bought, instead I found and old mj1200 I had laying around which is the Italian version and used that one instead.

I didnt realize until after the fact that a company named Cobalt sells the Italian made MJ1200. There is a huge difference between these pumps.

Marineland really dropped the ball on this one, why would you substitute a great pump for a piece of crap made in China.

What exactly was wrong with it that made it a "piece of crap"?

Don't you just hate a bad review with NO information given as to why it's *a piece of crap*?

I had one and it was loud (very loud), i had it running on my purelyh20 reactor. It was so loud that i couldn't stand it and took the time to plumb it in to my return pump. So no its just sitting in sump stirring stuff up. its not bad for that application

I have to say that after buying a few of marlineland's products within the past year or so, i have been very disappointed as well. The first circulation pump i purchased was a mj400 and it was the definition of loud and had more vibrations than imaginable. I left in the tank to see if it would break in and get quieter, however it just got worse. So after about 3 days I switched to Hydor products, cant even tell they are running! I will say the power-head mode is much quieter than the circulation mode with the mj 400.

This, plus the suction cups suck and will let them fall,i was not happy with mine either.Switched them back to standard powerhead mode and used the clip on braket to hold,so they're better now, still wish I would have just bought koralias instead.

Yes don't be duped into believing ML is the MJ1200 ppl talk about. If there is any back pressure on them it causes the most annoying vibration. I learned the hard way.

I replaced all the MarineLand pumps with Cobalt 1200's and use the MJ's for other things like mixing salt.

As it's been mentioned, it is a piece of crap because is is very cheaply made, from the impeller to the case. It is also very loud and vibrates terribly.

I use mine for mixing salt, so when it falls apart and i have to pick up the pieces int he bottom of the bucket its not a huge big deal. Saving a buck or two there was not worth it!
