    I'm a dork, sorry.

I think the 125 will be fine. Like you said I believe the only difference is the size of the cup. Worst case you can just run your airline from the cup to a bucket.

i dont mean to offened anyone who uses or owns a coralife skimmer but.

there are way better skimmers for the same money out there. coralife skimmers just dont pull as much crap out of the water as some others. go to marine depot and read the reviews and compare skimmers.i would spend an extra 25-50.00 to have a skimmer that i wouldnt have to upgrade unless i bought a bigger tank. also check the skimmer fourms here on 3reef.
    how about this one
    Reef Octopus Recirculating Protein Skimmer
or this you can get a great cone skimmer with good pumps not the cheap coralife pumps
SWC Xtreme 120 Cone Protein Skimmer SWC Xtreme 120 Cone protein Skimmer [Xtreme 120 Cone] - $224.99 : SWC - Salt Water Connection, Protein Skimmers, Calcium Reactors, Filters & Lights
do more research and do your self a favor if your going to spend close to 200.00 for a skimmer you wont want substanard equimpment check out reef ocutpus, bublemagnus skimmers.ect. another link http://www.saltysupply.com/Reef-Octopus-Protein-Skimmers-s/838.htm

Good to know... however it would be more like a 75-100 differance since I can get a 125 model for about $155 that would make me having to adjust it more often not as big of a deal.

ive been runnin the "old" 125 on my 90 DT and 30 gal sump for a year and half now. its done quite a good job, and has keep the nasties levels in check. so IMO, youd be good to go if thats what your getting. but bigger is always better. :)

I own the original 65g which runs in my wet/dry filter. I removed the bubble trap and moded the skimmer a bit. The skimmer is on a 65 gallon tank and its not the best I have had but it does a very good job.

save a few more dollars . i hear the bubble magnus skimmers are preaty good look on the skimmer fourms i believe you can get a nice one for 150 or under shipped ps. i had a seaclone skimmer on the same tank as the coralife was and most people will tell you that there junk, well it worked better than the coralife did .

one thing for sure is buying a skimmer is the most import piece of equipment you will have . make a bad choice and it will cause you trouble and wasted money .
believe me i have been in this hobby over 30 years

Sry to bring the thread back. Did you end up getting the new Superskimmer? How is it? I have the old model and think that if the new pump is better and you can raise the water level in the neck alittle higher without too much turbulence it would make nice thick nasty foam. I added a airstone and mesh modded my old one and think that if I had the wider neck it would be a killer. I have a vid on YouTube of it as I started it up right after cleaning the cup

I did not get this skimmer I was able to find a good deal on a local skimmer I ended up with a ASM G2 skimmer with a spare pump and mesh modded for $125.
