2 weeks ago I brought home a juvenil naso tang. He/she is about 3 inches in length and very active. So far eats everything I put in the tank. I have been keeping her in my QT tank and was wondering as a preventive if I should treat for Ich. I have seen no signs of Ich and as I said the fish is very active. My lfs recomends treating every tang for Ich if you see it or not. I am reluctant to do this because he seems healthy. I plan on QT for 2 more weeks any input would be appreciated.

If you quarantine properly you should be fine. It seems that it is doing well. I wouldn't want to add copper, if that is what you would use, to treat a fish that doesn't need it. It still is not great for fish, although they tolerate it much better than inverts.

I would recommend against treating for an issue that isnt there.

I have 5 tangs in my 180 SPS reef. If you have any lobophora, the Naso will clear it right out! You will need to feed the Naso Nori, Seaweed Selects or the equivalent daily. I think the fish would be fine...I run UV rather than quarantine. But the LFS that I buy from orders my fish in and keeps them for 4 weeks before I bring them home. They are beautiful fish! Enjoy!

Thanks everyone , I did not feel right treating a fish for somthing it didnt have, I just needed some assurance. Salt-rookie: he eats everything i put in tank so far doesnt matter if its brown or green algae, flake or pellet he is a chow hound.

I read something about all tanks have ich and its wether or not your fish get stressed and lose their coating and then the parasites attach to the uncoated fish and thats how they multiply . Is this true or not I do not know . Anyone wanna fill us in .
