Finally got around to putting my light over the tank this morning...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the spread and brightness of this light is not what I expected. I feel it is comparable to a single t-5. I really feel I would need 4 of these to support my LPS on the sand bed.
Unless the LEDs break in over the next couple days I will be returning this light prior to the 15 day return policy.

    Good Morning,

We appreciate your feedback. Keep in mind that it is a Linear Light. The spread and intensity is much greater than a single T5. If you have a quality light meter, measure the LUX / PAR, you will find that it well exceeds a single T5. Regarding intensity, being 3 Watt Cree LEDs, combined with the honeycomb optics over them, they're one of the most intense LEDs on the market. Cree is coming out with a 10 Watt LED eventually, but they are not readily available as of yet.

Question: Is this your very first time having a LED Aquarium Light? If not, please let us know which LED model light you are comparing ours to.

Depending on the width of your aquarium, and depending on if you have your aquarium packed with LPS corals from front to back, you may very well need more than just one unit. If you have an aquarium with a width of over 15 inches, I'd definitely recommend to run one than one rail. You may also use this light in combination with your existing lights.

These Cree LEDs won't have a break in period, until after approximately 25,000 hours, which would be the equivalent of 2 or more years.

Again we appreciate your feedback. Feedback often helps to make any necessary changes or adjustments in the future, to better the product if needed.

But yes, if you're not happy with it, no need to wait, the LEDs spectrum is not going to shift, change or break in anytime soon, therefore by all means go ahead and ship it back to us for a refund. To set this up, contact us at customercare@ocreef.com Thanks again and take care.

    Sincerely,
    Mike OCReef Staffer

I guess I am really disappointed in the fact that through email traffic I was told that one was enough for a 72 bowfront(when I was poised to order 2). I am not comparing it to another LED fixture, simply the previous fixture I have.

I will give it a day or so to see how the corals react.

Thanks again for the feedback, and we do definitely & completely understand.

    (1) unit would be enough, it would just depend on what you needed it for. Often times it's implied, or often times we do expect the hobbyist to have a certain understanding of their aquarium needs; we say this because every aquarium is different, therefore we have no way of knowing 100%, if you would need 1 or 2 units, unless we could see the aquarium for ourselves. From looking at the past email traffic, conversations / posts, it looks like we suggested for you to try (1) unit first, and that (1) unit may work, but if not, then a second unit would be needed or a refund would be given should you request it.

We do understand that it can be tricky for a hobbyist who has just made the conversion from many years of using Metal Halide, Power Compacts, or T5's. We sincerely apologize for any confusion. Thanks again and take care.

Question on your website you list: OCReef 60 Watt CREE Silo High Power Aquarium LED Light Fixture and OCReef 3 Watt CREE Linear High Power Aquarium LED Light Fixture

both of these having the same stats/figures but the only difference I see is one is Cree SILO High Power and the other is Cree Linear High Power. What does that mean? (have no clue about electronics).

Also you mentioned that since I have a 125 gal (72in x 18in x 20in) and that 2 lights will suffice though in a previous post to another member you posted that he may need 5 or 6 lights who has a 34 gal tank ( http://www.3reef.com/forums/oc-reef...-led-aquarium-light-116547-5.html#post1189325 ). I would like to grow SPS and LPS and was hoping 2 would be enough however I am wondering now since you infromed another member he may need 5 or 6. Please advise

    Thank you,
