New olive snail (not nerite.)

I've always seen these neat shells on the beach down here but never found any live snails because as it turns out they stay burrowed most of the time so when I got a chance to buy one I didn't even think twice but it's kind of an odd snail. Does anyone have any experience with this snail? I put a couple pieces of seafood mix and it pounced on it and engulfed it within it's foot so I see how it goes with meaty foods but will it eat any algae or is it strictly a predator scavenger meat eater? It's a pretty cool snail. Definitely different.

 

When we studied them at southern miss. They are pred/scav as u said, good sand mixers. I heard they may pick on ur smaller snails. I caught a few before live if u snorkel where its ~10ft deep.
Keep us updated. Im interested b/c when I wanted to catch one for my tank i couldn't find any. I'm gunna subscribe to this. Check out youtube for other info.

 

Those snails have been known to eat other small snails and small clams.

I wanted to get some myself untill I heard that.

 

Are you talking about Nassarius obsoleta? Those are not true nassarius fwiw if anyone is considering them.
