He's lost a bit of weight now since I cut back on how often Ive been feeding him due to terrible algae in the tank from the constant feedings. But now im back to the constant feedings to try to get him chunked back up again, hopefully the gfo reactor I am adding next week will help with the algae being created.

:/ hope he can stay healthy, i feed my tank a lot in hopes algae starts to grow for my CuC but it stays spotless no matter how much I feed....

just stay on top of the algae. manual removal with a hose and brush - water change - rinse & repeat every week until problem gone

This isnt hair or anything easily removed, it gets onto in and around everything. I couldnt remove it all if I wanted to, its gotten pretty bad. Hopefully it will just run its course and stop.

Hopefully yes in time, how old is your tank? A lot of live rock can contain phosphates that keep algae growing. One of my LR had a section that used to be riddled with GHA and other things. Pretty sure with the help of my CuC and healthier water conditions, it eventually "used" up all available nutrients. *Knock on wood* But I can't even get algae to grow in my tank anymore even if I over feed all week. I have to add algae tabs and bottom tabs in small amounts so I know everyone is getting fed. :/ Prob a dumb idea tbh but at least I know my Tiger Cowrie Snail isn't going hungry(since he only comes out when I'm in bed go figure)

The tank is a few months old, im thinking like 4 maybe. Its pretty much all base rock, and the algae grows on everything not just rock and sand. Glass, powerheads, egg crate, etc. im not too worried its just ugly

I love your Mandarin. How is he doing? I just lost my spotted about a month ago. I'd had him for over 5 years. I was devistated. I've got my eye on a green one at my LFS, but I'm waiting to make sure that he'll eat frozen foods. They've had him for about 3 weeks now and he looks fat and happy so I may pick him up next week.

Sorry if this is a little off topic but I have a red scooter blenny and I was thinking of getting a ORA mandrin cause I've always loved these fish but kinda stayed away cause of all the difficulties with them eating but I've had great success with the blenny, took some time but now hes eating like a champ. I've been looking into the ORA mandrins but I was concerned with having them both in the tank. Would they become territorial and/or fight?
