Nope, just 3W emitters ran at lower power for more efficiency.

Realistically, that light has an output of an Ecotech Radion. Not to say that isn't good, but using double the energy to do it is a large strike. If you're spending the money for a 300W LED Light, you might as well spend a bit more for some much more efficient fixtures with Cree, genuine Bridgelux or Luxeon emitters for the main output and Osram and Luxeon for exotic colors. It should be noted that the 120W fixtures have grown coral fine, and as such, a 300W one would be a waste of power and money.

Unless you have enough money for a cylindrical aquarium of 5 or more feet in diameter and yet cannot afford good lighting, avoid this. It's a waste of power and a waste of money. The likely price of this fixture being above 300 dollars lends very well to using a metal halide instead. The life of the fixture may be many years, but the break even time if using moderately priced metal halide lamps may be years.

Unless the LED fixture is using Cree, Luxeon, or genuine Bridgelux emitters for the royal blue and white, skip it. For 120W fixtures, they're fine as it's a few dollars per year, but when it is 30 or more and extra heat is involved, it becomes a problem.

    Phantom 300W LEDs

The Phantoms come stock with 3W Epistars...
You can upgrade to Genuine Bridgelux for about $40 more...

The unit I am having built is a full spectrum fixture...
You can also get customizable lenses 60°, 90°, and 120°... ;D

I am currently running AI Vegas on my Reef Tank but for some reason I think this Phantom will knock it out of the water... JMTCW... ::)

I'll let you guys know when I receive it next week... 8)

Chinese doesn't mean "shonky" it usually means "made cheaply" and that what all manufacturers do, I haven't seen many products that say "made in the western world at premium labor rates" on the, but I hav e seen made in Taiwan, China, HongKong and loads of other "made by cheap labor with some decent main stream parts bin pieces"

Give these items a go, buy them from a western distributor, be honest with your critique and I'm sure you will be impressed with some items, and I'm sure some you won't be, but that's life, and u get that with anything you buy.

If it's the fixture I'm thinking of, I think it's always advertised in Coral magazine and Coral and Reef magazine. I'll have to check tonight when I get home... I'll post the website the ad is using too.

"Made cheaply" was exactly what they said about Datsun and the Honda CVCC back in the 70's and 80's...

Look at Nissan and Honda today... if everything we are buying is Made in China and Made in Hong Kong, it's because of the markups that companies put on the same technology and the same product...

With direct sourcing to the manufacturer, we can in essence, cut out the middle man...

True, the Radions and the AI's utilize Crees... Guess where the Cree Chips are made? You got it!! China

It's not about Western or Eastern, for this hobby... but paying $500 for 100W plus another $72 for the remote... plus $40 for the wireless adapter... and another $50 for the railing and suspension kit... after taxes, you're looking at close to $775 just for one light fixture...

True, LED's can save you money on Heat and Energy as opposed to the MH lights, however, why do they charge inexorbitant prices for the LED fixtures?

If you really think about it... asking any manufacturer in China, Taiwan, or the like to make your light is like paying someone, a friend, or a friend of a friend, to build your DIY LED lighting fixture for you... LOL :) And plus, they don't argue with you... hahahaha

But yes, definitely, I'll let you guys see the light when I get it...
