In my experience Sun corals did better partly shaded... don't forget to target feed them!

    Thanks.
I think you're referring to the sea fan on the right. As far as I know it's just called a blue sea fan because of the polyps, when open, are blue. Very pretty!

It generally only opens at night. But, if you add Cyclop-Eeze during the day it'll open up for you. I believe there is another coral, the name escapes me, that looks very similar to the sun coral, but slightly larger heads, and it is open all of the time.

That's what I had understood, too. But, it's hard to create a cave/shaded area in a nano and my lighting isn't too intense, so I decided to try them in the open and they seem to be doing great. In fact, I've already split them. Used to just be one piece.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but there are actually three yellow sun coral heads on the left side of the piece on the left. I may try and frag them.

Glad to hear that. Are you feeding them specifically?

I am. I add some cyclop-eeze, then about 20 minutes later when they're opened I target feed with brine/mysis shrimp and blood worms that have been soaked in selcon.

-Thanks for all the kind words everyone!
