    Hey everyone,
So I purchased a long sought after "Powder Blue Tang" 4 days ago. And as soon as I put him in, he started picking at the rocks and grazing around. It was later in the day so I actually fed the tank before placing the tang in the tank. Thinking if the fish had full bellies, they would be a little easier on the Powder blue. The one that worried me the most was my yellow tang. But he's only about two inches, and the Powder being 4 inches, I figured it wouldnt be too bad. So once in, the yellow tang did bother him a little, but the powder kind of ignored him. And as the days went by, the yellow tang seemed to not be bothering the powder as much. On day two, the powder did eat frozen brine shrimp while I fed the tank like normal. Day 3 and current he hasn't touched anything at all. I usually feed nori along with pellets, alternating to frozen brine every other day. Everyone else in the tank gobbles up everything. My Goby, Coral Beauty, and even Fox Face go nuts when I put the piece of Nori in there. The only fish that dont touch it much are my two little damsels, although they do pick at it for a little. My my powder blue doesn't even look at it. I place one piece on a magnet on the glass, and another piece rubberbanded to a rock on the opposite side of the tank. And he will always swim by them showing no interest at all. I understand they can be difficult to keep, but what I dont get is why he stopped eating after day two. He looks pretty healthy still. And swims around the tank at a slow pace. Not as fast as he did when I first put him in. I've been reading on garlic.... Trying to soak the nori in it... But I don't understand how to do this at all. How do I go about prepping the solution??? Any advice on what anyone thinks is going on, and how to do the garlic soak would be highly appreciated. And also, how long can he go without eating???? :-[

It's a 150. 72" long. And yes, I do have a refugium. Its a 55 gallon and i'm currently growing a big ball of Chaeto. Will he eat that if I try to put some in there? The only issue I have is I don't have any algae in my DT tank. Its all in the Refugium.

I usually Use selcon and garlic extreme. Take out some tank water, Soak the nori in it for about 5 minutes or so. Then place in the tank. Adding some vitamin C to the solution usual helps with health as well. I would continue to do the rock rubberbanding and the usual magnet placing till he is eating from the clip. You can also do this as well to frozen foods in hopes that it Might grab his attention as well.

Thank you so much. I'll try what you said RedGambit. Is there a specific amount of garlic or selcon to use for lets say, a 3 x 2 inch piece of nori? I don't even know what selcon is, i'm guessing i'll find out once I find it in the local fish store. Assuming its a liquid of some sort. Also, where do I find the Vitamin C suppliment to add in the soak? And also how much? Sorry for all the questions, i'm fairly new to the tang issues. I had a 125, 6 years ago, and only had one yellow tang in there. Along with many other species. All did well, Unfortunately that tank was sold... And this is the actual first time I have ever had a fish not eating issue. So i'm not that new into the hobby, but consider myself a newbie with these tangs. Ive never heard of or even knew about garlic, selcon, or vitamin C suppliments till I purchased this PBT. This is the first one I've ever owned, in all 10 years of being in the hobby. I treat all my fishies like kids. Just looking out for their needs and just want what everyone else in this hobby wants... A happy healthy fish..
