You can if you want. I honestly don't really see an advantage/disadvantage to doing it now or waiting.

considering that im doubling the aquarium water, should i be testing the water in the sump (i just filled it up and put 2 big pieces of BR in there with 1 of my 2 filters. So, should i be testing this water before i circulate it throughout the whole tank?

BTW: i love this concept of a sump. Especially on a nano reef. ESPECIALLY when its so hidden away in a closet and you cant even see any of the filters or heaters haha. Cant wait till i get the thing flowing!!!!!

Yes, you want it to match the tank as closely as possible to avoid shocking the creatures.

No, it shouldn't cause a cycle. Might just cause a change in params. Similar to doing a really big water change.

ok. thanks a lot packleader for helping me through this. Really appreciate it. I should get that return pump and overflow sunday because the LFS is closed on saturdays ): Keep with this thread i will be posting more pictures sunday if everything goes as planned.

O yeah one more thing. How much money should i expect this return pump to be? just an estimate. Considering it has to push the water at least 6 feet.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

and also, can i fully cover the sump in my closet with a lid i already have to stop evaporation? or still not enough gas exchange. Do sumps need gas exchange? (stupid question but i dont want all that salt evaporating)

I would leave it uncovered. And the salt won't evaporate, just the water ;)

The size of the overflow will be the determining factor in the pump size, so you will have to start there. If the LFS is at least half-way decent, they should be able to fix you up with everything you need ;)
