I have been using a CPR BAK PAK that I purchased with a slightly modded MJ1200 and I think the pump is failing. It was first slowing down then speeding up and now its just pumping water and no air but makin lots of noise and this is after I cleaned it. I will try some other solutions such as vinegar soak etc. but I would like some suggestions as to good replacement pump for the CPR BAK PAK. Thanks All

What mod was done to the pump? Maxijet pumps are generally very reliable and workhorses. The MJ1200 that is on my Bak-Pak has been running for 4 years now. I modded mine to have the air taken directly into the impeller instead of the venturi adapter.

I always have to clear out the airline and nipple with a needle. There tends to be a calcium buildup after a couple months that will block airflow into the skimmer.

Do you soak your pumps in vinegar? I have the same problem with the HOB skimmers. After awhile, they stopp making skimmate.
