I imagine it's getting ready to split for self preservation, or worse.

You should have no detectable ammonia value. I have no idea what is going on with your KH value, that does not seem right at all to me, I would recheck that.

A w/c sounds like the best intervention at this time.

Gez. That doesn't sound good at all. I will recheck KH after water change. How can you tell when it starts to split? How long does this process last?

It can take anywhere from 6-12 hours in my experience.

You can tell when you start to see them pretty much tear apart.

    See below.

Yeah, they are. Gotta work on it this ASAP.

Noticed there is a line down the down the middle of the foot area where the mouth is swollen. Guess I will have to wait and see.
All other corals and polyps are doing great. Spent some money on this one, hate to see it go so quickly.

I put the RBTA in the tank about 3 weeks ago and the clowns had been in the tank several months. They never even paid attention to the Nem until this week and I noticed the bonding behavior with the clowns on Thursday (2 days ago).

I noticed that as soon as the lid to the tank was open, they were both at the top begging for food and would even bump up against my hand at times or nip me.

I was trying to entice them to the Nem so last Saturday evening I had an idea. My thought was I would continue to feed the Nem a tiny portion of Squid in the morning (hoping to get her to split) and I stopped feeding my clowns. In the evening I would give the RBTA a very tiny amount of frozen and live Brine with a turkey baster and I would keep an eye on the clowns behavior and to make sure they were getting fed. If they hadn't eaten in a couple days, I would have known it wouldn't work and would have started feeding them again.

My hopes were to make the Nem more attractable to the clowns since they were not getting food from me anymore but were relying on the brine that floated away from the Nem or was stuck to her.

I started this schedule Sunday. Thursday after feeding, I noticed the clowns had bonded with the Nem and were sucking on his tentacles. Not sure why but could be they were trying to get the left over food that was stuck to her.

Last night I started feeding the clowns again and they are still bonding with the Nem. Not sure if that is why they are bonding or not...could just be coinsidence...but I'm very happy about it.

With your Parimeters that high, you definitely need a water change. It looks like your Nem could be splitting but hard to tell with the pictures. If it does split, I have always been told not to feed the mother or the clone until their mouths heal and remember to keep an eye on any corals that are close to it as one or both may be looking for a place of their own and can sting other corals if they come in contact with them.

I'm sure others on this site will be able to tell you more than I can on the subject of splitting.

i really want to ask how old the tank is but im attempting to turn over a new leaf, just keep parameters in check and like corrailine said it is probably just acclimating. good luck with the nem

Just remember, there really isn't a difference whether it is a 2 month established tank or 6 month established tank IMHO. ;)
Whatever you do, don't touch it, just let it be. Yes your params are out of wack a bit, but IME nems mouths expand due to stress such as acclimation. Just do a big WC and you should be okay.
