Well after filling my tank with distilled water and losing close to a gallon a day due to evaporation. And about 5 gallons a week for WC I was going to be spending about 40 bucks a month on distilled water. I broke down and got the 75gpd BRS RO/DI unit. And all the fittings for the sink. I went with BRS over Spectrapure for the free shipping since I had to get a few other things ( like the clear netting ) for the top of the tank. Made it easier to order from one place. figured the unit would pay for itself in three months.

Awesome, good choice. Now, when it comes time to change out the stock filters and resin, you may want to look into getting them through Spectrapure. There are tons of threads on here where AZDesertRat shares his thoughts. I have a 150GPD system from BRS and have since changed out the filters to what he recommends. I haven't noticed a change in water quality, however these filters should allow go much longer between replacements and make the membranes last longer as well.

How long should the filters last ? At about 10 to 15 gallons a week. Also got a TDS meter coming in the order to ?

Depends on the water source itself. I have relatively good water (TDS around 80-100), so I am expecting my new filters to last around 6 months. Higher TDS would obviously require them to be changed sooner.

Even with the shipping the Spectrapure would have been the better option. BRS does not treat and test their membranes, does not use absolute rated sediment filters, does not use the meuch better capillary tube flow restrictor, does not custom blend all their own reef specific DI resins so they last many times longer saving you money in the process and don't provide inline pressure gauges standard in their lower end products. There really is a difference.

I'm sure I'll go with Spectrapure filters when the time comes.

Don't know what mine is yet. I'll update when my meter comes in Thursday.
