I just got a 6 stage RO/DI filtration system with a storage tank, from filter direct on ebay. My plumber was here doing some plumbing on my new bathoom, so I had him hook up the filter system under my kitchen sink. I am waiting for my storage tank to fill, then per the instructions, I must discharge the whole tank. Then the next storage tank fill can be used for drinking and reefing. My question is. Should I test that water? And what test should I do?

Test your tap water for copper and phosfates then test the filtered water to see how its doing. Not sure what other tests would be good to run.

Make sure the water you are drinking is just ro-not ro/di.

Get a TDS meter and test the water. It should read 0ppm after the RO/Di unit. They are pretty cheap. I think I spent about 20 bucks on mine.

+1 on that--I got a dual inline TDS. I would have tossed my color changing DI Resin way too soon if I just went by the color.

Test with a TDS meter as stated above. If it reads zero, rest assured the water is free of copper, phosphates, and everything else. Zero TDS RO/DI water is nearly lab grade stuff, good enough for dialysis.
