New ro/di tds out membrane 140 ?

So I bought a new ro/di unit from spectrapure I replaced my aqua-pure unit with
It .. I already had the tank and air gap faucet I'm sure I have it hooked up right I bought 2 flow restricted and a auto shut off valve and hooked it up like the diagram on specktrapures web site but the water coming from my faucet tastes like tap water not half as good as the water my aqua pure unit was makeing.
Am I missing something why does it taste like poop ?
Any help would be great before the misses gets upset lol

 

How much water did you make before you tasted this water? I made 20+ gallons before I tasted my water..

Just make a lot of water and see how it tastes after.

 

I'm about 6-8 gal so far I'll let it run for a bit

 

Do you have a TDS meter by any chance?

I do I'm at 411 on the in 0 out on the di side but I'll move it and check soon
I went threw on other 3gal no change yet :-/

 

I've been drinking ro water for the last year never drank ro/di heard it was bad for you

 

Yeah it lacks nutrients and minerals.

 

My dad deals with water treatment for a living, working with Pepsi & Miller Brewing and so on... He said if you were stuck on a island and all you would eat or drink was Ro/DI water there would be issues. But since our daily food and other drinks have minerals its okay to drink the water.

 

I read a thread in the last couple days where AZ said new and nearly depleted DI put out a chemical that can make the water stink like fish. So if it can make it stink it can def make it taste bad. I'll see if I can find the thread.
