Here is the post I was talking about, sorry to AZ I don't know how to quote from another thread. The thread was "Ro water smells"

"I have posted disinfection instructions many many times, you should be able to bring it up with a quick search on any of the forums.

While I do recommend disinfection every 6 months at filter change time thats probably not your problem. The below is from Spectrapures website FAQ's and addresses DI resins and smells:

"Type 1 Strong based Anion resins release very low levels of amines (trimethylamine). A very low threshold of 5 PPB or greater will cause a fishy odor to be noticeable. The odor is most noticeable when the resins are new and when they are at or near the point of exhaustion.

NOTE: Trimethylamine is also released by decomposing fish which also results in the same type of odor. "

Note the smell is noticable at 5 PPB or parts per billion so is very strong. Even though you may have replaced resin recently I'll bet it was either old or not stored properly and is near exhaustion."

I have been drinking ro/di now for about 2 months after doing a lot of reading into it. Conclusion, your father would be correct. We absorb very little of our nutrients from water, primary source of nutrients is food. Second argument people use is that low tds water absorbs nutrients from our body like a sponge, also proven false because our cells regulate osmosis therefor not allowing the loss of nutrients from the body.

Seams to be make to much usable water think it could be a bad air gap faucet ?
Can I buy a standard faucet and skip the air gap and go direct to the drain ?

Did you already trim your flow restrictor and all that?

Post some photos of your plumbing, you more than likely have something crossed up.
What are you testing with, where and how?

What are the tap water TDS, RO only TDS, RO/DI TDS, and waste line TDS readings?

For now, until you get the RO straightened out, remove the DI cartridge or disconnect it so you don't exhaust it quickly.

Have you contacted Spectrapure Technical Support? Thats the first place I would start as they can probably walk you through everything on the phone in a few steps.
