T5HO at high enough wattage should work fine for anything. Metal halide is nice but then she would likely need a chiller or loud fans.

    A few words of wisdom...

Torch and Frogspawn both have long stinging tentacles that come out at nighth. The average length for the stinging tentacle is about 6 inches. So, if you have any corals within 6 inches of the Torch/Frogspawn coral, they'll be burned and killed.

Also, even with a protein skimmer, it would be good to run some sort of filter. The protein skimmer doesn't take fishy waste (..poop...) or loose algae out, so a filter would do that job.

You really wont consider the hallides to start off? It'd be a great choice and your corals would be flourishing. The link that Bloodkip gave you has great deals on them. :) other halides could end up costing $200-300. I want to try SPS, but can't without purchasing another tank. The biocube lights weren't strong enough. Then they came out with the HQI...

Bloodkip, i really appreciate your advice but you give it in almost a bitter way. not to be rude, I just think you maybe take yourself a little to seriously. But I do appreciate your advice :) And I get that the metal halide are best, and I might upgrade to those at some point, but for now I want to start with the much cheaper but still effective t5 HO.

Thanks guy! will they sting fish too or just other coral? and what if I put say the frogspawn on its own island of rock?

aquatrader or fishneedit I believe it is have cheap setups for T5HO. I was researching those before we went with the JBJ setup.

They'll sting whatever organisms that they reach. Some fish, like clowns, have an immunity to all sorts of stings due to their mucus coating. It can be on your main rock as long as nothing stationary is near them, if anything, your clowns might take refuge in a Frogspawn/Torch coral. Also, Frogspawn/Torch corals are LPS, so they don't need much water flow at all. It'd be better to place it on a rock in the bottom region of your tank. Another coral that you'd like is an open brain coral. I got one the other day. Go to my profile, look at statistics, threads started by me, and click the one about the open brain. They don't need much flow and moderate lighting, but have striking looks. :D

SO should I maybe avoid the torch and frogspawn?
I got the light off of ebay for $40. Its Odyssa(sp?) brand, which is what those two places had. except I got the 170 dollar light for 40. lol

No, they are awesome corals. Just try and position them a little bit away from other coral. Oh and btw Metal halide isnt the best, LED is.
