With a 14g you can have so much fish, you will keep stocking fish until you found out you should of gone with a big tank in the first place. If I were you I would rethink this hobby over, it's not cheap. I spent $4000 on my 75 within 3-4 months of ownership.

a protein skimmer instead of a cartrige filter?

im determined Bloodkip. Im an animal lover, I wont damage anyone. Im smart, Im doing and will continue to do my research. I understand that its expensive but its something I want and I dont plan on being stopped.

so i looked at fish, hows this list?
    Gold Neon Eviota Goby
    Pinkbar Goby
    Wheelers Shrimp Goby
    Yellow Stripe Clingfish
    Orange Lined Cardinalfish
    Firefish
    Clowns

not all of those, but those are ones I like and would choose from. so a couple of those, plus a shrimp, probably piston, and maybe a serpent star.

Saltwaterguy, I would love your help :) lol it is fun

YAY!!! LOL well lets see some combinations... well first of all are you getting a 14 or 29? with 29 more combinations are possible. assuming ur doing a 29 since you want an anemone so much... how about a pair of clowns (usually ocellaris or percula), a firefish (red or purple), and maybe 2 orange lined cardinalfish with a wheelers shrimp goby/pistol shrimp pair?

    that sounds great :)
those fish are assuming a 14 gallon tank, if I go 29 then there are more kinds of fish available yes?
so what about a 14 gallon combination? assuming no anemone ( :( not so happy about that, but coral works too) but I still think clown would be fun. I definately think a wheeler shrimp goby/ shrimp pair will be in the tank. what kind of shrimp though?

14g tanks are hard to take care of, so hardy fish like clownfish. 14g I would do
    2 clowns
    1 firefish
    2 cardinal fish
    1 cleaner shrimp

Imo i'd do this for 14 gallons:
2 black and white ocellaris clowns (pair)
    1 purple firefish
1 hi fin red banded goby (similar to my avatar which is the dracula goby, but the dracula is like $130 XD)
    1 serpent star
    1 blood red fire shrimp
