I would buy all the rock at one time and you won't have to worry with it later and the die-off from the rock will add the the ammonia count and help cycle.

I agree also. If you are getting a skimmer, get one overrated for your tank. My choices for your tank would be the following in order of preference..

**Aqua Medic Turbo Flotor-1000 Multi SL
    **AquaC Remora Pro
    **Octopus BH-300F
    **Coralife Superskimmer-125

The capacity listed with a skimmer is in a lightly stocked tank. Since many of us like to push the outer envelope, a more powerful skimmer is generally needed to take care of the waste introduced to the tank by our fishy population (and of course the obligatory overfeeding that we sometimes do).
I completely agree. Get all the rock in there at once and let the tank cook.

I'll take a look at the skimmers at the LFS - i think they have the Coralife. I'll go ahead and get all 68 pounds.

Thanks for all the advise - it has been really helpful!

Here is a pic of my new Live Rock. Let me know your thoughts. I got 68 pounds.

Is this aquascaping ok? I tried to add holes so the fish can swim around it. Also there is enough room in the back so that the powerheads can push water through for circulation.

Unfortunately, they didn't have any there. Although I did see some in eBay, I think I'll get one of the recommended skimmers this week.

OK, so you see the live rock now. It was all cured at the LFS and I know this had been in their curing tank for weeks.

When they gave it to me, one container was coverable, and the other was not covered and i'd say the rock was out of water for about an hour.

I asked the LFS if i needed to clean the rock and they said "NO" so i did not clean the rock before putting it in my tank. Was this a mistake?

I see there is life forms alive on the rock but am concerned about die of and wiping out the whole tank.

I'm having trouble knowhing what is considered what is dead and what is alive - the water doesnt stink - just smells like water.

I guess i'm a bit confused on what i should be doing now. Should i just wait a few weeks and let the rock cycle the tank? How much should i be cleaning (what does the die-off look like?)
