New Skimmer help

I just got a HOB Excalibur protein skimmer from a guy used for $40. He said his old Rio pump burned up (Big surprise there) so he bought another (A Rio 600). The new pump was only used for a few weeks. To test it out I filled up my tub up and plugged 'er in to see how well it worked. Well....the pump is sucking up water and into the intake...I see some bubblies in the skimmer tube....and there's a nice stream of water coming from the outtake...but the water isnt bubbling very much, nor is it making it all the way up to the collection cup. It sits about 2" below the cup.
My questions are:
Has any one used/heard of the Excalibur skimmer?
I'm pretty sure the pump sucks, but just to confirm, is the pump not powerful enough?

Ok, I've attached three pics of it. One on its back, one on its side, and the third on its back without the "overflow" box on it. (I put it in "" because its not really an overflow, it has three chambers, one with a bottom and part of the side is left open, the second has no bottom and the third hasn't a bottom either)
And yes I know its a bit grubby and need a vinegar bath...lol

Is the air line out of the water when its on? Have you checked the air line to see if its clogged? With time, the air line gets clogged with salt crystals and prevents the skimmer to work properly.

have you checked the needle wheel on the pump? just a thought, sorry I couldn't be more help.

Or is the venturi dirty/clogged if its that style?

 

The Air line was out of the water.
K+ on the salt crystals Luna, I just checked and silly me there was some blockage.

Im gonna check it again tonight and see how she does. If there's still any problems I will post again.
