New Skimmer Ideas

It's pretty constant, actually. I might catch it every 3 days or so at a moment when it doesn't have foam way up in the neck/cup, but it doesn't stay there long.

It's oversized, but not inefficiently oversized.

 

Is there a ratio for skimmer size vs tank.
Like do you aim for 1x turnover an hour. Or depending on fowlr all the way to full blown reef? I once read ideally for a reef tank you want to aim for 2x turnover per hour but that may be untrue. I use a marine land 300 on my 120 fowlr and it works great. Get about a cup a week. And the tunze 9002 nano on my 28g which is a reef. So overall about 2x turnover per hour.

I also heard someone say 10x per hour so I'm a bit confused.

 

Thanks again all for the info. RO and Aquamaxx are probably at the top of my list SWC looks good too, I need to read up on the pumps more. The initial info I read suggested they had issues, but have been fixed.


nc208082, I don't really know of any rule of thumb. There are a lot of variables.
