    It looks like I might have gotten burnt on this skimmer. (49.00) The maker offers no inof about it. I got it off of ebay. If I have to get another what would be the best and cheapest way to go. 55 gallon model price and so on and so forth....thnx

    You should spend some quality time reading through and searching the old threads here:

    I'm sure after reading some threads with other people with tanks your size you'll find a highly and widely recommended skimmer that will suite your needs.

    After reading one of your old threads, I see the skimmer is a Jebo 180 aka "cheapo 180". Linda had one on her 55, and she said it sucks. Search for a better one.

    There are plenty of cheap ways to go. All of them bad. Skimming and lighting are two things you do not want to skimp on IMO. Here are a few skimmers (all of them HOB) in my order of preference for a 55g.

    Aqua Medic Turbo Flotor 1000
    AquaC Remora Pro
    Octopus BH-100F
    Coralife 125 Superskimmer
