IMO the best way to go is figure out the recommended model for your total gallons and then buy the next size up. Premium aquatics is a great source for Bubble King and will help you if you call them

$2100, not a "can afford" or "willing to" , more a "cannot justify".

What extra would this skimmer do compared to a 800$ skimmer in a tank ?
As I say to my employees when they ask for "this and that" justify the expense and show me the benefit and it's yours.

Lol thats the big question. I always wonder if people gush over their bubble kings because the large investment in them. On the other hand since I have never heard anything bad I figure its just superior engineering.

Tests show little differences in performance between skimmers. Feels good to know you have the best quality and won't have any QC issues or at least it will be fixed. Lots of aquarium products are junk and don't last. If something goes down and you have a lot invested in livestock, that can be costly. That said, there are lots of perfectly fine skimmers available for less. RO has always been good to me. Pumps seem to be the big failure point and even good brands use crappy pumps on some models. You do generally get what you pay for, although it isn't a linear function.

Considering the size of your system you will be spending $1k at least. There is a huge difference in quality between a Reef Octopus and a Bubbleking and I own a SRO

I am thinking about buying a BK Supermarin 200 or 250 in the future, that will cost at least $1500

So today I took a gamble and installed an JNS CO3.
Love the build quality and the amount of bubbles, also quite like the removal for the cup.

Time will tell I suppose ?

So this morning I have 1/3 of a inch of dark thick skim mate, my old corallife is sitting next to the new skimmer with a cup of white froth ?
Wow when the new skimmer is broken in, maybe I will get more ?
I am very impressed with the ferocity of the bubbles the new skimmer is making.
