An update on the skimmer. Worked most of the day yesturday on the plumbing for the overflow. Put new lights in the hood and got the skimmer up and running. Here are some pics. Also moved my heater to the sump and took the fx5 filter off.

Everything looks good, congrats on the new stuff. I see that you have a ball valve on the overflow line, I would leave that open or take it off otherwise your risk getting some water on the floor.

Hey awesome skimmer. Little tip I just figured out. On the inlet for the pump, turn the inlet for the air almost parallel to the bottom of the sump. It it is pointing up it crates a air pocket on the inside of the inlet and forms salt that will block the air inlet. Pulled mine apart and it was caked with rock hard salt. Was wondering why my skimmer was being a pain.

It has not produced anything yet. Is this because it's a new setup and there is not much organic matter in the tank? I have the water level set at just below where the collection cup pushes into place and bigger bubbles going up to the bottom of the collection cup, if that makes sense.

That is exactly the height you want the water to be it. The skimmer just needs to break in, and as you mentioned, it is a new tank. You may not see much for a week or so.
