Just wondering how long it takes to break in a skimmer & and is the jebo 180 hang on skimmer going to do the job for a 120L tank.
Also where do i set the water level for best performance.

I use a Remora Pro HOT skimmer on my 120g and it is adequate. It comes with either a Mag 3 or Rio 1400 rated at 350 and 420 gph respectively. I upgraded my pump to a Rio 1700plus at 650 gph and it made a huge improvement in its ability to produce thick dry foam. I havent noticed any increase in bubbles either. The skimmer needs a good cleaning every 2-3 months to keep it in top performance. Is your tank a reef tank? If so you might want to think about a Turbofloater Multi.

120 Liters? It should be fine for a FOWLER, but watch it. I'm with Raven, if it's a reef i'd upgrade. If you want to stay with a hang on, I'd look into a SeaClone 150. It's a little less finicky and has better performance for not much more money. I'm sure there are better choices, but I've used one successfully for years. Remora's and Corallife's with the needle wheels are nice too.

There is no easy answer to settings on most hang on skimmers. Performance and settings are dependent on the tank's water level. Again, start where you are getting a good head of foam with the cup off without over flowing the skimmer. Adjust from that point based on output till you get a reasonably thick skimmate. You should have it dialed in in a few days.

    Good luck

I didnt realize that his tank is 120liters. Thought it was a 120g long like mine.
Thats about 30g tank and most HOT skimmers should do fine for a tank that size. You can get a standard Remora instead of the Pro and save some money. I would get a Rio 1400 plus pump for it though.
