I started building this stand and realize I may have a problem. My tank is pre drilled with a corner overflow and the plumbing may not fit below because of the way the corner of the stand is designed. I am at work and haven't measured it out yet, but its not looking good.

    Any thoughts ?

It looks plenty sturdy I'm sure you could cut any piece in the way without an issue. You can also consider using a elbow for the returns.

Trim the piece down that you are pointing at. I'm sure you could take off a couple inches and still be able to screw it into the top horizontal 2X4. Then you could use 45's under the tank to clear the stand. Structurally you will be fine as the other two 2X4's in that corner will be sufficient to hold the wieght of the tank.

Edit: Well built by the way. Can't wait to see the covering.

That sort of sucks. I wouldn't recommend cuttting into the corner support. Although, yes it may work. Do you really want to trust this kind of investment on a stand you "think" will hold it. As much as it sucks to say......start over. Make the stand deeper. Good work on the design tho. Looks like it would be very sturdy.

Even if I cut that inner piece down a bit, structurally I should be fine, the corner section will still be in place and that is what bears the load. I think.

I put the tank on the stand, marked the holes and drilled them out. From the way it looks, I don't think it will be a problem. Worst case I may need to use a few elbows.

That looks perfectly fine. I think what ever one thought u were cutting into was the actual 2x4 at least that's what I thought. U should have no problems with that.
